Hafnar-fjörður 2023

Even though I was born and raised in Ísafjörður and always have Ísafjörður in my heart, I lived in Hafnarfjörður for the longest time, from 1999 to 2025 (with a few breaks) and have strong roots there. Proud that Hafnarfjörður blood runs through my veins - and both my children have the middle name Hafnfjörður.

The painting is made from a photo I took on my phone while walking in freezing temperatures. Recent landmarks, Norðurbakki and the Marine Research Institute make a beautiful impression on the horizon, but I think the building that houses the institute, Hafró, is particularly enjoyable.
