Guðlaug Birna Björnsdóttir
An Icelandic artist, currently living with one foot in Iceland and the other in Norway.
I’ve always been drawn to the things that make life beautiful, cozy, and vibrant. Through my art, I want to bring that same energy into people's spaces and lives. I create dynamic pieces meant to evoke distinct moods—whether that's a sense of uplifting power or a quiet, comforting calm. I want you to lose yourself in the work and wonder: What's beyond the horizon? What lingers in the fog? What is the person in the painting thinking?
I am self-taught and constantly experimenting, working primarily with acrylics and linocut printing. For a long time, self-doubt kept me away from art school, leading me down a very different path: economics in high school and computer science in college. While my tech career has been great, art kept pulling me back. The ultimate spark turned out to be my older child; watching their creative journey over the years completely woke me up. They became my role model and the final push I needed to pick up the brush for real.
Today, my head is so full of ideas that it occasionally overflows. I can’t wait to bring them all to life and keep evolving as an artist in the years to come.
